Par For The Course: Sunshine

photography by so does estella

This is a shot I snapped inside the Sunshine Cinemas, one of my favorite places to be on a Sunday. Sunshine, I'm still waiting...

I was over at Unstitched yesterday where I said home is where I like to spend my Sundays. When that isn't happening, I opt for a little sunshine indoors. There is rarely a movie at this independent theatre that I don't want to see. Other pluses include yummy vegan cookies at the snack bar and gaze-worthy architecture. (Exposed wood beams that will blow your mind!)

I want to know - what's your favorite way to spend a Sunday? A matinee? The park? Shopping? I know, I know, it's only Wednesday but there is nothing wrong with day dreaming about the weekend ahead. Right?

(Oh! And since today is the first "Par For The Course" post, you may be wondering how I choose my post topics. You can take a look at the schedule here.)

We make an effort to go to church in the morning.

Afternoons, Susan's mom comes here for mid-day supper, which I cook, and hangs out for a bit.

A Sunday matinee sounds great! :) I love to go to flea markets...there's always a flea market, every Sunday, in different locations. That's a fun way to spend a Sunday morning. And then I like to go home and rest (after what's sure to be a hard day's shopping :), and relax before the week starts again.

Thanks so much for your post yesterday! It was so great to get a glimpse into your home & inspiration!! :)

I love to spend my Sundays quietly... in the park reading, taking walks in the fields around here, strolling in the nearby town. Now you've got me dreaming for a relaxing Sunday!

Where is this one? When I was in the city, we spent most of our movie going days at the Angelica, mostly because it was so close to NYU.

@eva that sounds so lovely. relaxing is an art :)
@brandi oh, angelica is a good one too. i wanted to go see blue valentine there but it was sold out. :( it's right around the corner actually.

Sana! I'm going to New York in July and I'm definitely going to need your extensive list of places to visit and eat at! I love spending my Sundays as leisurely as possible. My husband and I go to church in the morning, grab lunch, take a nap and catch up on our tasks for the week. We had four friends over for a fun dinner party last Sunday and then the girls crafted while the guys watched a weird French film. Those are fun Sundays too!

I've only been to the Sunshine once, but I love the indie theatre around my way. If I'm not working (which I usually am on Sundays), I would like to wake up late, have brunch, catch an early movie and the veg out at home the rest of the day :)

i loved the photos from your apartment yesterday. you have amazing taste. and this sounds like such a lovely way to spend a sunday! my husband is an interior architect and furniture designer, so any place that has gaze-worthy architecture is a winner in our book. when we lived in san francisco, our favorite sunday activity was sitting in the park with friends. we now live in los angeles, where there is much better weather, but we have yet to create a new sunday tradition.

@viv sounds like you had a blast. dinner parties can be a lot of work any day of the week but you usually always come out feeling like it was well worth it!

@maddy isn't nice to have an indie theatre close to home?! i can't imagine it any other way.

@kimbirdy first off, i love the name! second, i am so flattered that you liked my personal museum. your husband is an interior architect/designer? awesome! i wonder if i've we've ever crossed paths in LA (my hometown). Sundays in LA...i do miss those! we must talk soon :)

Indie flicks and vegan cookies! Now, that's my cup of tea! Throw in a hike just before the matinee, and that would be a perfect Sunday for me. :)
